The 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog set the stage for India’s ambitious growth trajectory, focusing on economic expansion, sustainability, and inclusive development. The discussions reinforced the idea that states play a crucial role in shaping India’s future, and collaborative governance is essential for achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.

NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam emphasized that India is at a turning point, poised for rapid economic growth. He stated that India has surpassed Japan to become the fourth-largest economy, reaching a $4 trillion GDP.

If current policies continue, India could become the third-largest economy within 2.5–3 years.

The meeting focused on “Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047“, urging states to align their development strategies with national priorities.

State Vision Documents & Development Strategies

17 states have either released or are close to releasing vision documents that outline their long-term development goals.

Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat have already published their state-specific strategies.

PM Modi urged states to focus on manufacturing, services, skilling, entrepreneurship, and exports to drive economic growth.

Key Themes Discussed

The meeting revolved around several critical themes, including:

Manufacturing & Industrial Growth – States were encouraged to remove bureaucratic bottlenecks and outdated regulations to improve the ease of doing business.

Urban Development & Infrastructure – PM Modi stressed the importance of future-ready cities and proposed the “One State, One Global Destination” initiative, urging states to develop at least one world-class tourist destination.

Green Economy & Sustainability – Discussions included renewable energy adoption, circular economy principles, and environmental conservation.

Women’s Workforce Inclusion – The PM emphasized policy reforms to integrate women into the workforce, ensuring equal opportunities in both public and private sectors.

Exports & Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) – States were urged to leverage FTAs to boost international trade and investment.

Investment & Economic Policies by NITI Aayog

NITI Aayog 10th Governing Council Meeting-PM Modi highlighted the need for investment-friendly policies and urged states to create an environment conducive to foreign investments.

He pointed out that global investors are keen on India, and states should capitalize on this opportunity.
