Vodafone Idea Reports ₹7,166 Crore Net Loss in Q4 FY25, Approves ₹20,000 Crore Fundraising
VI has reported a net loss of ₹7,166.1 crore for the fourth quarter of FY25, widening from ₹6,609.3 crore in the previous quarter but improving from ₹7,674.6 crore in Q4 FY24.
Vodafone Idea: Revenue & ARPU Growth
Despite the losses, VI revenue from operations saw a 3.8% year-on-year (YoY) increase, reaching ₹11,013.5 crore. The average revenue per user (ARPU) rose to ₹175, up from ₹153 in Q4 FY24, driven by tariff hikes and customer upgrades.
Debt & Financial Challenges
The company continues to grapple with massive debt obligations, including:
- ₹2,345.1 crore owed to banks
- ₹1.95 lakh crore in deferred spectrum and AGR-related payments, due over the next two decades
Vodafone Idea’s net worth remains negative at ₹70,320.2 crore, reflecting its ongoing financial struggles.
Fundraising & Government Engagement
In an effort to stabilize its finances, VI board has approved a ₹20,000 crore fundraising plan, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals. The company also remains in talks with the government for relief on its long-standing AGR dues, despite the Supreme Court dismissing its plea for waiver of interest and penalties.
CEO’s Statement & Future Outlook
CEO Akshaya Moondra called Q4 a “turnaround quarter”, citing the highest average daily revenue in five years and a reduction in subscriber loss. VI is also expanding its 5G services, aiming to cover all 17 circles where it holds spectrum by August 2025.
With fundraising efforts underway and government negotiations ongoing, VI hopes to strengthen its financial position and compete more effectively in India’s telecom market.
